JAN TRESKA

COACH

Hi, I’m Jan and have been practicing martial arts for over 20 years, had successfully competed at national and international level winning English, British and European titles. I found Kickboxing among other martial arts as a great way, to improve flexibility, fitness, self confidence, and to have fun by getting a total body workout while learning simple self defense moves. Therefore I am very happy to pass and share my skills and experience with you.

John Martin

President (2017 - 2018)

Hi! I'm John and I'm a DPhil engineer. I joined the club six years ago and have been training seriously for about a year. It's great fun and fantastic cardio, so come along and try it out.

Rajan Choudhary

Secretary (2017-2018)

Rebecca Ramjiawan

Female Squad Capitan (2017-2018)

Hey! I'm Rebecca and I'm a second year Physics DPhil. I joined the club a year ago as a way to maintain fitness, learn some new skills and de-stress along the way. The club has been a great place for new people and we want to continue that this year! As women's captain I will work hard to increase women's participation in Varsity, as well as encouraging more women to give kickboxing a try - it's great for fitness, strength and self defense!

Shakil.jpg

Shakil Karim

Male Squad Capitan (2017-2018)

Hi, I'm Shakil, a History and Economics undergrad. Kickboxing to me is a great way to improve fitness, confidence and self-defence. Sessions are intense and instructive, suited to all experience levels, and in a friendly environment. As Men's Captain I hope to encourage everyone to sweat hard, work well together, and reach their potential.

WEIYE YANG

Treasurer (2017-2018)

Hey! I'm Weiye, a third-year DPhil mathematician. I originally took up kickboxing to take advantage of the extra time that being a PhD student afforded me. It's a great workout, and very therapeutic especially after a hard day's work. We run at least five sessions every week, enough to satisfy even the keenest of fighters, and everyone is extremely friendly and welcoming to newcomers. See you there!

Konrad Werys

IT Officer (2017-2018)

Hi, I am Konrad, a post-doc working with medical image processing. Kickboxing is awesome. Don't believe me? Come and try! Morning sessions are the best.

DAVID WEN

PRESIDENT (2016-2017)

David disregards his previous life as a tab and hopes for a big win at home for Oxford this year.

RAY HERTANTO

TREASURER (2014-2017)

Hey I'm Ray and I'm the treasurer for Kickboxing. I deal with the financial side of the club so if you have any issues regarding that then I'm your guy! Maybe see you guys at a session!

RADHIKA SHOLAPURKAR:

SENIOR MEMBER (2016-2017)

Hi, I'm Radhika and I'm a Medic at Sommerville college. Whether you want to improve your fitness, compete, gain a valuable skill, or meet friendly people, kickboxing has something to offer for everyone, whatever your ability.

Even with a busy schedule it's easy to get to training with there being 5 sessions a week. I strongly recommend trying it out, you can come for any of the sessions. Hopefully I'll see you there!

PARM GILL

IT OFFICER (2015-2017)

Scuba diver gone kickboxer. Being landlocked and constantly needing to be a do-er, Parm joined the OUKBC in May 2015 looking for some excitement. Needless to say he found it.

Now as opposed to wrestling with octopus, and being thrown around by the ocean, he does so in a more land-based environment. He enjoys the great workouts and the physical challenges he receives from KB. He has developed strong ties with club members and has found a new habitat space and welcomes others to join him.

HANNAH ELLIS

SOCIAL SECRETARY (2015-2016)

Hi, I’m Hannah, and I work at Oxford University. I joined OUKBC nearly two years ago when I moved to Oxford and I love it! Kickboxing is a great sport for all-round fitness and strength. OUKBC is also a really fun club to be part of! As social secretary, I organise pub trips and socials, but also try to make the club as friendly and welcoming as possible. It doesn’t matter how much or little experience you have – everyone’s welcome at training :)

AMANDA BUYAN

SENIOR MEMBER (2015-2016)

Hi everyone! I’m Amanda, and I’m a fourth year D.Phil student studying Structural Biology. I joined kickboxing about two years ago, and found that it was a lot of fun, and a great way to relieve the stresses of the student life. I now serve as the Senior Member, and am here to answer any questions you may have. I hope to see you at training!

ANDERS MOLLER

SECRETARY (2015-2016)

Hi, I'm Anders, and I'm doing an MPhil in Development Studies. I have been with the kickboxing club for a little over a year now, and before that I did Kyokushin Karate for two years. I was shopping around for a new martial art and found Jan's teachings very pragmatic, flexible, and attentative to student needs, and got hooked. He is also very focused on injury prevention, which makes it an incredibly safe sport to practice. Above all else, sessions are fun and I feel very happy to be part of this giant family.

JENNIE GRAHAM

FEMALE SQUAD CAPTAIN (2015-2016)

I am a fourth year Arabist at Christ Church and I started kickboxing about 2 years ago. Since taking up the sport, I've discovered that it's an absolutely fantastic way to blow off some steam during the busy and stressful Oxford terms, not to mention an incredible all-body workout. I would highly recommend anyone coming along to the club to try it out - we are really not all that scary. Outside the ring that is.

ALI ABBAS

ENTZ (2016-2017)

I'm as good with people as I am with my fists. That means i'm really good.
